Rocky Reid Decommits From Tennessee

Rocky Reid-1Just a few days after adding four-star running back Kendall Bussey to the 2015 class, the Vols have now also lost one of their long-standing running back commitments.

Rocky Reid of Concord, N.C., announced on Friday night that he will be moving on from UT’s class after originally committing to the Vols in March.

The 6-foot, 220-pound three-star prospect set a new county record for rushing after a huge senior season. In his senior season alone, Reid ran 432 times for 3,355 yards and 39 touchdowns. Reid received an offer from Georgia in the fall and recently visited the Bulldogs, perhaps indicating that they could be the favorites for him going forward.

For Tennessee, it’s back to having three backs in this class. Junior college five-star Alvin Kamara has already signed with the Vols, local athlete commitment Joc Bruce plans to start his career at running back and Bussey are all in the fold. Others such as Vincent Perry and Micah Abernathy are considered athletes who could play multiple spots.

Jalen Hurd (777 yards in 2014) is the only scholarship running back scheduled to return in 2015 for Tennessee. Cincinnati graduate transfer Ralph David Abernathy IV is also expected to join the team in the spring.
