RTI Pick Six: Week 12

Les Miles-1

 No. 17 LSU at Arkansas (-1) 8 pm ESPN2

Daniel: This line is just insane to me. Certainly Arkansas could win this game, but to call them a 2-point favorite seems absurd. Is this one of those ‘Vegas knows something we don’t’ games? The Razorbacks haven’t won a conference game in Bret Bielema’s tenure in Fayetteville and this doesn’t seem like the most likely one to change that trend. LSU has gotten significantly better this year and was a play or a call away from knocking off Alabama last week. They’ll take care of business in this one. Winner: LSU 31-21

Houston:  How is Arkansas favored in this game? Have I missed something? It has been nearly two years since their last conference win, right? Maybe I’m being naive, but I just don’t see LSU being the team that finally gives Big Ten Bret his first conference win. LSU showed a lot of toughness in last week’s loss against Alabama and I think they came out of that game a better football team than when they went in. LSU knows that they can win with aggressive defense and running the football…the two things that they went away from against Alabama when the game was on the line. I think LSU gets back into the win column this week and leaves Arkansas still searching for that elusive SEC victory.  Winner: Tigers 24-13

Reed: This line blows my mind. Arkansas hasn’t won an SEC game in 25 months yet is favored over an LSU team which should have beaten Alabama last week. Maybe LSU is deflated after that loss and Vegas knows it? The Hogs have been the better offensive team this year and they took Alabama to the wire at home earlier in the year, but they also got stomped by Georgia. LSU has the better defense and held Bama’s potent rushing attack to a shade over 100 yards last weekend. I like the team with the better defense, and the team with an SEC win since Dooley roamed the sidelines in Knoxville, in this one. Winner: Bayou Bengals 27-20

Seth: Honestly, I could not be less excited for a football game than I am this one. LSU is average and Arkansas is a tick below that. It’s the battle of the boot, but in the words of Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, this game can “turn that sum bi!#$ sideways and stick it straight up its candy a$$!” Arkansas hasn’t won an SEC game since Oct. 13, 2012, yet they are favored over LSU. How? Makes zero sense. Will LSU put a somewhat complete game together and beat a one dimensional Razorback team, or will Anthony Jennings continue to not be able to complete passes and let the “haven’t won a league contest in over 2 calendar years” Razorbacks emerge victorious? Big Ten Bret sure hopes so, but I say not so fast my friends. LSU puts it together just enough on the road to win a very Les Miles-esque game. Winner: LSU 21-20
