5 Spring Position Battles to Watch

Rashaan Gaulden-1-2It’s here. The Vols officially begin spring practice on Tuesday with Butch Jones’ Monday press conference serving as an unofficial kickoff to the spring.

Tennessee is the last team in the SEC to start spring practice, but it’s better late than never for a fanbase that is more than ready to get some first glimpses at a 2015 squad that is as promising as the Vols have had in years.

But while expectations are clearly on the rise, this team still has plenty of questions to answers and several positions that are very much up for grabs. And while a majority of the starters from 2014 return, there are still several key pieces to replace, places that need to be upgraded and spots that need more depth.

Injuries and the arrival of some newcomers over the summer will have a say in several position battles, but this spring should give some answers as well. Here are five key position battles we’ll be keeping an eye on over the course of the next month as the 2015 squad begins to take shape.
