HOOVER, Ala. – Tennessee was picked to finish second in the SEC East, behind Georgia, according to the media who voted at SEC Media Days.
The Vols edged out two-time defending East champion Missouri for the second spot and finished behind Georgia, who finished approximately 250 point higher than the Vols. The media picked Alabama to win the West by a narrow margin, but Auburn to be the outright SEC champions.
This is the highest Tennessee’s been picked in the preseason media selections since 2007, when the Vols were also picked to finish second in the East. Tennessee hasn’t been picked higher in the SEC East since the 2005 season.
