Receivers/Tight Ends
We’ll start with the tight ends, where Ethan Wolf showed why he could be a sleeper All-SEC pick this year, turning two of his three catches into touchdowns. He’ll be a nice red zone option this year. Nobody really dominated at receiver, though Josh Malone (3 catches, 40 yards) and Jauan Jennings (3 catches, 56 yards) showed some improvement and potential – each making some nice catches. Von Pearson had the longest reception of the day – a 45-yard catch and run down the middle that reminded Vol fans why it’s nice to have him back on the roster. Marquez North and Josh Smith were largely non-existent. They may not be 100% healthy at this point, or perhaps Butch Jones was just limiting/saving them a bit. It wasn’t an explosive day for this group, but it got the job done and helped quarterback Joshua Dobbs out on a few throws that were slightly off target.
