Defensive Line
The Vol defensive line was incredibly disruptive against the Sooners, but they’ll be kicking themselves for not finishing off some potentially huge plays behind the line of scrimmage. The Vols finished with two sacks and nine tackles for loss as a team, but missed opportunities kept each of those totals from being considerably higher. Derek Barnett, Corey Vereen, Owen Williams and other linemen failed to bring Baker Mayfield and Sooner running backs Samaje Perine and Joe Mixon on numerous occasions that allowed Oklahoma to keep late drives alive. They were good against the run, and pressured the quarterback all night long, but missed opportunities will keep this score from being much higher.
