Overall
Just like coaching, this is a tough category to assess. A win is a win, no doubt, but many were expecting more from a UT team playing at home against a not-so-great South Carolina team under an interim head coach. The start was an A+, a good portion of the middle of the portion of the game could receive a failing grade and then the Vols did enough at the end to get the victory. It was certainly a mixed bag, but especially if this team is able to regroup over the next couple weeks and take care of business against North Texas, Missouri and Vanderbilt, Saturday night’s performance can be viewed as more of a sign that the Vols are figuring out how to win as opposed to a sign that this program still doesn’t know how to consistently finish off opponents for 60 minutes.
