How much food does it cost to feed the traveling parties from two different college football teams?

Over 5,000 pounds, according to bowl representatives that helps supply the teams’ welcome dinner in Tampa this week. The food came from the game’s title sponsor, Outback Steakhouse, which went all out feeding the teams.

“And a feast it was as the teams combined to devour more than 5,000 lbs of food including: 750 lbs of sirloin steak, 750 lbs of chicken and 900 lbs of ribs, all cooked over a wood fire grill,” Outback Bowl rep Mike Schulze said in a new release this week. “Also, 625 pounds of Steakhouse Mac & Cheese, 1,600 coconut shrimp, 160 bloomin’ onions, 700 lbs of house salad, 1,600 honey wheat dinner rolls, 1,200 lbs of cheese cake, 60 gallons of barbecue sauce and dozens of cases of soda and water.”

That’s a lot of food. And that’s just one meal. Expect the Vols and Wildcats to down plenty more this week leading up to the game on Friday.
