The Vols didn’t do a lot in the passing game, and they didn’t have to in order to win. But tight end Alex Ellis turned in a career game, catching three passes for 74 yards including a 42-yard strike early in the game. Von Pearson added a 26-yard reception as well, but that was about it as far as big plays go from the receivers. Like most games this year, the Vols relied on the running game to win. There weren’t many bad drops (unlike Northwestern), but there also weren’t many big plays. And no touchdowns from this unit hurts the grade as well.
