Tennessee got a new defensive coordinator in Bob Shoop over the weekend, replacing former DC John Jancek who the Vols “mutually parted ways” with earlier in the week. On the surface, it is just a coordinator change – those happen regularly in college football – but looking a little bit closer at the situation, it seems that Tennessee, Butch Jones, Dave Hart and others made some statements by going out and getting a top defensive mind that has been coveted by several programs around the nation.
