A Look Back at the 2015 Recruiting Class

Alvin Kamara-1-3

 Running backs

Alvin Kamara
Initial ranking: ★★★
Was it a good ranking? Kamara came in with a lot of hype and one of the top JUCO rankings in the nation, falling just short of composite five-star status. He lived up to his rankings and then some, showing that he could’ve started immediately for many programs around the nation and settling in as a deadly compliment to Jalen Hurd. Kamara has NFL speed, good hands and runs hard himself. He was good enough that he’s considered draftable after just one year at UT as a redshirt sophomore and he’s weighing his options.

John Kelly
Initial ranking: ★★★
Was it a good ranking? The three-star ‘athlete’ was impressive in mop-up duty at running back, though he didn’t take any truly meaningful snaps. I’ll reserve judgement until I see him run against more first-team defenses, but he runs hard and has SEC-level speed. The Vols will need him in the near future.
Rerank: ★★★

Joe Young
Initial ranking: ★★★
Was it a good ranking? The late addition to the 2015 class got a chance to carry the ball in some late-game situations as well and did some good things too, though he might be a step behind Kelly overall. Like Kelly, it’s tough to get a great feel since he was running in mostly meaningless situations, though he has some upside.
Rerank: ★★★
