Firstly, I think it’s important to note that the quarterback position isn’t likely as high a priority as some other positions in the class. With three serviceable quarterbacks already on the team for the 2017 season and the number one player in the country for the 2018 class, Trevor Lawrence, being so high on Tennessee, it will be interesting to see what Tennessee does here. Still, the Vols would like to try to sign a quarterback for 2017 and there are a couple of top targets on their list.

4* N’Kosi Perry: Ocala, FL | 6’4″ 175 lbs

It’s hard to tell just how hard the Vols will recruit a quarterback for 2017. The three quarterbacks they have after Dobbs graduates will likely be on the team through 2018, and they will do everything they can to land Trevor Lawrence in that class. Still, the ideal situation is signing at least one QB for 2017 and Perry could be the guy they are looking for. He was once committed to Miami and they are still high on his list, but Tennessee is right in the conversation.

*Update: Perry re-committed to Miami on Saturday

3* Jack Sears: San Clemente, CA | 6’3″ 200 lbs

Sears is similar to current Vols QB Quinten Dormady in that he is not a natural dual-threat guy. But the Tennessee coaching staff still believes he can fit their system. He is also an early enrollee, which is almost like adding a redshirt season to the front end of a player’s career as far as getting ready for college goes. Again, it’s hard to tell what will happen at QB, but with Tennessee as the most prolific program recruiting him, he might already be a slight lean for the Vols.
