Former Coalfield High School offensive lineman and Tennessee signee Zach Stewart announced Thursday night that he will not play football for the Vols.

Stewart was a three-star recruit in the class of 2015 and was announced as part of Tennessee’s signing class on National Signing Day in February of 2015. Shortly thereafter, however, his mother unexpectedly passed away, causing him to delay his enrollment.

Nearly a year later, and Stewart has decided to step away from football altogether.

In high school, Stewart was a standout offensive lineman for Coalfield and earned Mr. Football honors. Stewart is stepping away to spend more time with his family and does not plan on pursuing football in the foreseeable future.

Stewart gave Tennessee their first commitment of the 2015 class all the way back in April of 2013. He was rated as the 16th-best overall player in the state of Tennessee in the 2015 class according to 247Sports.
