Tennessee OC Hot Board: Take Two

Matt LaFleur

Quick bio: LaFleur is currently the quarterbacks coach for the Atlanta Falcons – a position he’s been in since 2005. His other previous major stops were as the QB coach with the Washington Redskins and in the same position at Notre Dame. He was an offensive assistant at Central Michigan from 2004-05, where he briefly overlapped with Butch Jones.

Pros: LaFleur has seen his stock rise as the Falcons have put together one of the best passing offenses in the NFL over the past two seasons and currently sit as the No. 2 seed in the NFC after an impressive 11-5 campaign.

Cons/Questions: It certainly doesn’t hurt to have veterans Matt Ryan and Julio Jones leading a passing attack that some would argue could be coached to success by just about anybody. LaFleur hasn’t called plays at a high level, so while he’s a name on the rise, it might be a little bit early for Jones to turn the keys over to him at this point. He also might be eyeing a promotion in the NFL as opposed to going back to college football.
