Coaching Search Update: Still No Hire

Ken Dorsey

Quick bio: Dorsey is one of the most decorated college QBs in recent history, putting together a 38-2 career mark as a starter at Miami. He was an All-American, a Heisman finalist, a national title winner and he set numerous Miami passing records. He bounced around during a seven-year professional career that included stops in San Francisco, Cleveland and briefly in the CFL. He moved on to become a scout for the Carolina Panthers before being promoted to quarterbacks coach in 2013 – a position he’s been in since that time.

Pros: Jones said he’s looking for a quarterback developer and Dorsey certainly fits that mold. His accomplishments would give him credibility in the meeting rooms and on the recruiting trail. He helped turn Cam Newton into an MVP for the 2015 season.

Cons/Questions: If Dorsey were named OC, he has no experience calling plays or running an entire offense. Would he make the jump as just a quarterbacks coach?
