Defensive Line
Tennessee added six defensive linemen – three projected tackles and three projected ends – to a position that will need to be replenished in 2017. The defensive tackle haul is pretty impressive with four-star Eric Crosby, Alabama legacy Kivon Bennett and Parade All-American Matthew Butler. The ends aren’t as a highly rated, and could’ve used a clear-cut stud like LaBryan Ray (who signed with Alabama over UT) to make Tennessee fans feel better about life without Derek Barnett and Corey Vereen. Still, there’s a lot to like in terms of the quantity and quality of this bunch. UT really needs At least one of the three ends – Ryan Thaxton, Deandre Johnson or Marquez Bembry – to be a steal.
