Butch Jones Loves Jennings Burning Tabor as Much as Vol Twitter

If there’s one thing you must know about Vol Twitter, it’s that they are obsessed with one specific play of the 2016 Tennessee football season. And that play was sophomore wide receiver Jauan Jennings blowing by Florida cornerback Jalen “Teez” Tabor for a 67-yard touchdown in Tennessee’s 38-28 streak-busting victory over the Gators.

Vol fans on Twitter still troll Tabor (who was drafted by the Detroit Lions in the 2017 NFL Draft) with images from that catch and remind the corner almost daily of his mishap during that game. Vol fans likely wouldn’t be quite as ruthless against Tabor had he not trash talked the Vols multiple times before the game. But he did, and now Vol fans love to talk about that play and remind Tabor of it.

Apparently Vol fans aren’t the only ones who love to be reminded that Jennings burned Tabor, however.

Tennessee’s own head football coach, Butch Jones, appears to have a special place in his heart (and on his wall) for Jennings’ catch in that game. Antonio Alfano, a five-star lineman in the 2019 recruiting class, tweeted out that the Vols had extended a scholarship offer to him this weekend. In his tweet, he included several photos of Tennessee players and a photo of him posing with Jones in the coach’s office. Jones’ office has several photos hanging on the wall, and one particular photo in the bottom right of the picture should catch Vol fans’ eyes.

If you can’t see the image in Alfano’s tweet, here’s the picture itself removed from the tweet:

Vol fans have used that particular image of Jennings high-stepping into the end zone to troll Gators fans and Tabor ever since it happened in September, and it’s also apparently one of Jones’ favorite pictures as well.

Jennings will be a junior this fall and is expected to be the clear No. 1 target in Tennessee’s passing game this year. Jennings had several highlights last season, including that catch and the Hail Mary grab against Georgia. Fans are hoping he provides even more big plays to use as fuel against opposing fan bases this upcoming season too.
