Tennessee vs. Georgia Tech Pre-Game Notes

Starting Lineups:

Brent Cimaglia got the majority of kicks in warmups, but Aaron Medley had the first attempt. Take that for what it’s worth. That competition seems to be ongoing at least through warmups.

Defensive line: Kongbo-Vickers-McKenzie-Taylor

Offensive line: Kendrick-Jones-Robertson-Smith-Tatum

Quinten Dormady, it appears, will take the first snap at quarterback for Tennessee. He took a majority of the first team reps during the Vols preparation.

Micah Abernathy and Nigel Warrior will start at safety for Tennessee. Colton Jumper and Cortez McDowell were the two linebackers on the field with the starting defense. That means the Vols may run a lot of the 4-2-5, which is the scheme Shoop ran all of last season, with the exception of a couple games near the end of the season.

Justin Martin, Rashaan Gaulden and Emmanuel Moseley were the first-team corners on the field with that group.

Injury Notes:

Josh Smith will not play tonight. He was dressed in street clothes, roaming the sidelines with his former quarterback, Joshua Dobbs. ShymTuttle was on the field with the rest of the team thirty minutes before kickoff going through warmups.

Georgia Tech running back Clinton Lynch will not play tonight. The Yellow Jackets starting A-Back was in street clothes prior to the full team warmups.

Other Observations:

Pregame warmups featured a star studded cast of former players. Dobbs and Cam Sutton were both on the sidelines before the Vols came out for warmups. Former Georgia Tech wide receiver Calvin Johnson was also on the field. Johnson is the Yellow Jackets’ honorary captain for the coin toss tonight.
