Rick Clausen
Though he shared the last name of one of the better quarterbacks in Tennessee’s history, Rick Clausen was not like his brother Casey. And that was evident from his first start.
Clausen was asked to take over the Vols’ offense after both Erik Ainge and Brent Schaeffer were unable to play because of injury. And Clausen’s first start wasn’t bad, but it certainly wasn’t iconic either.
Rick Clausen’s first start came against Vanderbilt on November 20th, 2004, and he completed 19 of his 30 passes for 189 yards, two touchdowns, and two interceptions in a 38-33 win.
