Nathanael: C-

Ty Chandler had a great 33-yard run and was the most effective back on the day, but even he didn’t have a great overall performance. He scored both of Tennessee’s touchdowns, and his first one was particularly impressive as he carried a defender into the end zone with him. But more often than not, he was bottled up. Carlin Fils-aime had a costly fumble that was returned for a touchdown, and Tim Jordan had absolutely no effect in the game. The Vols’ running backs weren’t used in the passing game, and they weren’t particularly great in blocking either.

Ben: C+

This grade is primarily for Ty Chandler, who rushed for two touchdowns and 82 yards on 14 carries. Chandler had several nice runs on the day, including a long of 33 yards. The biggest blemish of the day came when Carlin Fils-Aime fumbled on a jet-sweep, essentially eliminating the Vols’ chances of coming back and winning. Tim Jordan couldn’t get going on the day, rushing for just 18 yards on six carries.
