Post-Game Reaction: Vols Have Bowl Game in Sight

The Vols were put on “upset alert” before Saturday’s game against UAB, but the Blazers never had a chance to sniff an upset in Neyland Stadium.

Tennessee (4-5, 2-3 SEC) never trailed in the game and shut out UAB (6-2, 3-1 CUSA) for 57-plus minutes on Saturday night, winning 30-7 in front of 85,000-plus fans on Homecoming. The Vols proved with the win that they’re miles ahead of where they were at the beginning of the season when they lost 38-30 to Georgia State, and the victory inched UT ever closer to a bowl berth.

After the game, there was plenty to discuss about the win and the implications for the remainder of the season. And we did just that.

Managing editor Nathanael Rutherford hopped on Facebook Live after the Vols’ win to talk about Tennessee’s second-straight impressive defensive performance, the play of Jarrett Guarantano, why JT Shrout and Brian Maurer didn’t play more (or at all), and the Vols’ chances of making a bowl game.
