Titans vs. Browns Game Preview

The Titans schedule has been extremely difficult over the past month. However, they appear to have turned the corner. They had an impressive come from behind victory against the (then healthy) Baltimore Ravens. They also dominated their divisional foe Indianapolis Colts. King (Derrick) Henry is prepared to roll into Cleveland to deliver Jim Brown like punishment to the talented Browns defense.

Cleveland is 8-3 this year and has been extremely impressive running the ball with their two stud running backs. This is the most wins that the Browns have had since they were 10-6 in 2007. These two teams want to run the ball at each other every chance that they get. The Browns are top in the league in rushing while the Titans are second. Expect both Henry and Chubb to go over their rushing numbers this week. The total for this game is set at 53.5

NFL Week 13 Injury Report

Tennessee Titans

DE Jadevon Clowney was placed on IR with a knee injury. This is a huge loss for the Titans, he was their big free agent acquisition.

CB Adoree Jackson is questionable this week with a knee injury of his own. Jackson has been on IR for weeks and is believed to have suffered a setback in his recovery.

TE Jonnu Smith was listed as questionable with a knee injury. He has not looked healthy for several weeks after not having caught a pass last week. He did not practice yet this week and is trending towards doubtful more than questionable.

P Brett Kern returned as the Titans Punter last week and it was a crucial return for the roster. The replacements have been an abomination.

CB Kristian Fulton has been on IR since October and could potentially return this week. Mike Vrabel will surely provide an update before the end of the week.

WR AJ Brown did not practice on Thursday with a listed hip injury. This does not appear to be normal rest, he could be in danger of missing the game this week.

Cleveland Browns

CB Denzel Ward is out indefinitely and will not be out there Sunday with a calf injury.

DE Myles Garrett has been upgraded to probable this week. He was out with a COVID-19 positive test last week.

RB Kareem Hunt is listed as questionable with a thigh injury. He has been a limited participant in practice most of the year, he will be out there.

AFC South Standings After Week 7

  • Tennessee Titans 8-3
  • Indianapolis Colts 7-4
  • Houston Texans 4-7
  • Jacksonville Jaguars 1-10

Implied Winning Probability

This is a sharp betting statistic that most people should be calculating on every bet. The idea is to take the theoretical odds that are placed on a game and replace it with real value. So for instance, the Tennessee Titans are -245 on DraftKings Sportsbook to beat the Cleveland Browns on Sunday. By calculating the implied winning probability, you will find that the true value of the Titans to win is 71.01%.

Conversely, the Browns are +210 to win the game against the Titans. This would mean that the implied win probability is 32.26%. By adding together 71.01 and 32.26 you will realize that it adds to 103.27. Anything over 100 is known as a vig or fee that the sportsbook charges. In this case, DraftKings Sportsbook is charging a 3.27% vig.

Betting Trends

Top two rushing offenses face off

Baker Mayfield is not what they wanted him to be drafting him number one overall. In response to this, the Browns have gone all in on Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt. Results have been strong with 161.4 rushing yards per game. Derrick Henry is being dubbed “King Henry”. He is the best running back in the league and is the reason that the Titans are second in rushing with 158 yards per game.

Why not take the over?

Eight of the last ten games for the Titans have gone over. Their offense is humming and they dominated the Colts last week in Lucas Oil Stadium. The over does look tasty here at 53.5. However, the Browns’ whole strategy is run the ball and play defense. Both teams hold the ball for long stretches of time and do not turn it over very frequently. Even if both offenses are successful throughout the game, asking for eight touchdowns is a lot.
