Tennessee women’s basketball coach Kellie Harper met with the media Tuesday ahead of the Lady Vols’ season opener against Southern Illinois Wednesday night.

Harper is familiar with Southern Illinois, facing the school in multiple Missouri Valley Conference games during the third year head coach’s six years at Missouri State.

The Lady Vols head coach also discussed her team’s excitement on getting on the court to face an opponent after mostly practicing against themselves the last six weeks. Harper also touched on the excitement about playing in front of fans at Thompson-Boling Arena again.

Tennessee’s schedule quickly gets more difficult following the season opener with the Lady Vols traveling to Orlando to face Central Florida on Friday night before returning home to Thompson-Boling Arena to face No. 21 South Florida on Monday, Nov. 15.

Tennessee’s season opener against Southern Illinois will tip-off at 6:30 p.m. ET. The SEC Network will broadcast the game.
