Tennessee opened as 27.5-point favorites in its week 12 matchup against South Alabama, according to CircaSports.

The over/under is 68.5.

South Alabama is 5-5 on the season, but has lost two straight games since quarterback Jake Bentley was injured. The one common opponent between Tennessee and South Alabama is Bowling Green. The Jaguars beat Bowling Green 22-19 in week two.

South Alabama is 4-6 against the spread this season.

Tennessee enters the game coming off a 41-17 loss to No. 1 Georgia at Neyland Stadium. The Vols finished their four straight games against top 20 teams with a 1-3 record, earning their lone win over Kentucky.

The remainder of the regular seasons schedule is much easier for Tennessee as they face 5-5 South Alabama and Vanderbilt. Both games are at Neyland Stadium.

Heupel discussed the close of the season following Saturday’s loss and reiterated his confidence in his team’s ability to respond.

“Nah. No doubts,” Heupel said. “They’re disappointed with the outcome tonight. It didn’t happen because we don’t like their preparation or the focus. Didn’t do the things we needed to down the stretch, but, man, it’s a group I’ll go compete with every Saturday.”

The Vols are 4-6 against the spread this season and 3-4 in SEC games.

Tennessee and South Alabama will kick off at Neyland Stadium at 7:30 p.m. ET. The SEC Network will broadcast the game.
