What is No Sweat First Bet from FanDuel Sportsbook?

You’ve seen and heard about it this football season on TV, radio, and the internet — the No-Sweat First Bet. It’s a new user offer from FanDuel sportsbook. But what does it mean for a new college football bettor?

Part I: No Sweat

Who likes sweat? It makes you feel sticky and uncomfortable. It leaves unsightly stains on your favorite white shirt.  You do have a favorite white shirt, don’t you?

With the FanDuel No Sweat First Bet, you won’t sweat it, because your first bet with FanDuel comes without risk. Place a wager on any sporting event and if it loses, up to $1,000 of that wager is given to you as free bets.

That’s why the folks at FanDuel can say “no-sweat,” because you aren’t sweating the outcome. If it wins, fantastic. HUZZAH! But if your first bet loses, no worries. This brings us to the second part of the offer…

Part II: First Bet

To qualify for the $1,000 offer, this needs to be your first best with FanDuel. First, download the mobile app, either for iOS or Android. Then, register and verify your ID and location in a state that allows sports betting. Make a deposit, and place a wager.

Any qualifying wager is protected up to $1,000, which means if you lose that first bet, FanDuel will give you up to $1,000 back in free betting credits.

For example, if you wager $150 on a college football game as your first bet, but lose that wager, FanDuel will place $150 in free bets in your account. Anything up to $1,000 on your first bet is risk-free.

College Football Picks for Oct. 1

Here are five quick game previews with odds from FanDuel for Saturday, Oct. 1:

No. 2 Alabama (-17.5) at No. 20 Arkansas, 3:30 p.m. ET

Frankly, a spread of 17 ½ points seems low for Alabama. The Crimson Tide have arguably not played a good full game yet this season. The offense and defense seem to trade quarters, and special teams have been inconsistent. This shows on the face of coach Nick Saban, who seems to be trying desperately to get across to his talented team that the football is a funny shape and can take strange bounces.

No. 4 Michigan (-10.5) at Iowa, Noon ET

One way to win is to score so much that the other team can’t possibly keep up. It looks like Michigan is using this tactic to some extent as the Wolverines are averaging 50 points per game. That production is coming with minimal risk. Michigan is running the ball and controlling the clock. So far the Wolverines are out-rushing opponents 234 yards to 109 and gaining 24 first downs compared to 13 for their opponent.

Don’t believe the warnings from some Big 10 experts. This game will not be as close as some think, and coach Jim Harbaugh’s team will easily cover this spread.

No. 7 Kentucky at No. 14 Mississippi (-6.5), Noon ET

FanDuel lists the No. 7 Wildcats as nearly one touchdown underdogs on the road against Mississippi. Where’s Rodney Dangerfield? Talk about “no respect.” We like Kentucky to beat the spread, if not win the SEC matchup against the Rebels in Oxford.

No. 22 Wake Forest at No. 23 Florida State (-6.5), 3:30 p.m. ET

Remember when Florida State was a monster in college football? That was when Bobby Bowden and Jimbo Fisher were stomping on the sidelines. With an impressive 4-0 start, Mike Norvell is serving notice that the Seminoles intend to become relevant again. We like FSU to cover at home.

No. 1 Georgia (-28.5) at Missouri, 7:30 p.m. ET

Give the points and take Georgia in this complete mismatch. The Tigers will have difficulty running against the big defensive line of the Bulldogs, and if that means quarterback Brady Cook has to pass, look out. That spells “I-N-T” for Mizzou at home in a rousing loss.
