NFL Week 5 Best Odds & Picks

Using the Caesars sports betting app, we’ve identified five NFL games and associated bets that we love for Week 5 of the season. Here are the full NFL Week 5 Odds.

Dallas Cowboys at Los Angeles Rams — Sunday, Oct. 9, 4:35 p.m. ET

Here’s the upset special, to use a tired cliché. There’s something about the Cowboys this year, and even with the injuries and constant drama that surrounds the sidelines, front office, owners box, and roster, the team has played inspired football thanks to the defense.

Oddsmakers have the Rams as 5-point favorites at home, but we just don’t see it. We’ll like the moneyline (Cowboys +196) but will prefer to take the points. Either way, we think these are great odds for a team the oddsmakers are not taking seriously yet.

Bet: Cowboys +5 or Cowboys moneyline +196

Detroit Lions at New England Patriots — Sunday, Oct. 9, 1 p.m. ET

The Lions are surprising a lot of people who became enamored with the team after watching HBO’s Hard Knocks. That show played up the rugged toughness of head coach Dan Campbell, and the unabashed enthusiasm of rookie defensive lineman Aidan Hutchinson. Consequently, many experts predicted the Lions’ defense would make a statement this season. Oh, how that’s been wrong. The Lions are losing games (that’s not new), but it’s because of the defense. The Detroit offense is leading the NFL in points, averaging 35 per game.

We like the price on the Over for this game (45.5 points at Caesars). You’ll have to bet $110 to win $100, but it’s a good idea to go big because this game will see much more scoring than that. Add in the fact that the Pats’ defense is notorious for scoring points itself, and this seemingly pedestrian game could light up the scoreboard.

Bet: Over 45.5

Cincinnati Bengals at Baltimore Ravens — Sunday, Oct. 9, 8:20 p.m. ET

This is the inverse of the Lions/Patriots game: we like the Under as the Bengals and Ravens meet in an AFC North battle. Caesars lists the total at 48.5, and we’ll take that all day long. We think this Sunday night game will be a low-scoring affair with lots of frazzled play by the offensive units. The Baltimore defense isn’t as bad as it has played so far.

Bet: Under 48.5

Las Vegas Raiders at Kansas City Chiefs — Monday, Oct. 10, 8:15 p.m. ET

Following an impressive win over the Buccaneers, the Chiefs return home, and we think Patrick Mahomes & Co. will steamroll the Raiders. Give the seven points and bet the home favorite. The Raiders don’t force turnovers, don’t pressure the quarterback, and allow the fourth-most yards per pass attempt in the league. It will be a long night for Raiders defensive coordinator Patrick Graham.

Bet: Chiefs -7 over Raiders
