Tennessee hosted College Gameday in September when the ESPN pregame show came to Knoxville for the Vols’ matchup against Florida.

The Vols beat the Gators for just the second time in 18 years and followed up the rivalry victory with a dominant win over No. 25 LSU following Tennessee’s open date.

The Third Saturday in October is the top matchup in the week seven slate but its selection for College Gameday is still surprising.

ESPN’s preview show often avoids going to the same school twice in one season and had plenty of quality options this week.

Penn State travels to Michigan for one of the top games in the Big 10 all season, Utah hosts USC in the most anticipated PAC 12 game all season and even TCU-Oklahoma State is a viable option with both teams atop the Big 12.

Instead, the eyes of the college football world will once again set its gaze on Knoxville, Tennessee for the game of the week.

The Vols are 5-0 (2-0 SEC) for the first time since 2016 and Alabama (6-0, 3-0 SEC) remains unbeaten after surviving a scare against Texas A&M Saturday night.

Tennessee hadn’t hosted College Gameday since 2016 before this season’s Florida game. The Vols hosted College Gameday just once in 2016 but the ESPN show did go to three Tennessee games: Virginia Tech (Bristol), Florida (Knoxville) and Texas A&M (College Station).

ESPN hasn’t yet announced where they’ll set up for College Gameday but they broadcasted from Ayres Lawn for the Florida game.
