Sports betting in Ohio may be several weeks out but sportsbooks are wasting no time trying to build up a customer base.
Sports bettors in Ohio can take advantage of this click-to-claim DraftKings Ohio Promo Code. New users who sign up with our exclusive DraftKings Ohio promo link will claim $200 in free bets when sports betting is officially live on January 1, 2023.
You could get much more than that, too. Five users will be randomly selected to win a $100,000 free bet in DraftKings’ $100K Free Bet Sweepstakes. Here’s everything you need to know about claiming the DraftKings Ohio Promo Code and how we got here.
Claim $200 in Free Bets with DraftKings Ohio Promo Code Offer
We’ve made it easy to claim this offer from DraftKings Sportsbook as there is no code needed. Simply follow these steps to claim your $200 in free bets:
- Download the DraftKings Sportsbook app.
- Sign up for a new account using our exclusive promo link.
- Receive $200 in free bets as soon as betting is live.
- The $200 will come in the form of eight $25 free bets.
It’s important to note the free bets will expire, typically within seven days, and the free bets cannot be withdrawn as cash. For the free bets to have any cash value, you would have to place and win a wager using the free bet credit.
A Second Offer on Launch Day?
There is a possibility of DraftKings allowing new Ohio users to claim a second welcome offer on Jan. 1 when betting goes live. Currently, the standard DraftKings new user promo is a $50 free bet and a 20% deposit match worth up to $1,000.
It remains to be seen if the $50 free bet would be part of an additional offer, but DraftKings could very well up the ante considering there could be 20 online sportsbooks launching at the same time.
What To Expect On The Jan. 1 Launch Day
Ohio will be rolling out all phases of sports betting on Jan. 1, 2023, making it the largest simultaneous launch in US sports betting history. Retail sportsbooks, mobile apps, and betting kiosks will all be legal when the clock strikes 12:01 a.m.
Here’s a list of the online sportsbooks that have applied for a license with the Ohio Casino Control Commission.
- Bally Bet
- Hard Rock
- PlayUp Interactive
- Fubo Sportsbook
- Out the Gate
- Prophet Exchange
While several of these sportsbooks have received conditional approval, there is still additional information each sportsbook must submit in order to gain full approval for the Jan. 1 launch date.
Ohio Sports Betting Legislation
After several attempts and different pieces of legislation, sports betting was officially legalized in the Buckeye State on Dec. 22, 2021, when Gov. DeWine signed HB 29 into law.
Lawmakers behind the bill made it clear from the beginning that this was not going to be a rushed process. This was even more evident when Ohio announced there would be a universal launch date for all aspects of sports betting as opposed to a staggered rollout that many other states have implemented.
Ohio’s HB 29 allows for 25 Type A licenses and 40 Type B licenses, as well as Type C licenses which allow small businesses to provide betting kiosks at places like bars, restaurants, and grocery stores.
The OCCC had two application windows from June 15 to July 15 and from July 15 to Aug. 15, the first of which guaranteed operators to be part of the universal launch date (if approved). Operators wanting to provide their services in Ohio can still submit applications but won’t be guaranteed a spot on the Jan. 1 launch date.
