Tennessee has announced the return of the Dark Mode alternate uniforms… with one huge addition.
The Vols have officially added an all-black helmet to the mix.
Tennessee’s Dark Mode alternate uniform will now consist of a black jersey with orange numbers and an orange Power T in the middle of the collar. The jerseys will match the pants, which are also black and boast two orange stripes down both sides of the legs.
Lastly, Tennessee will now be showing off a new black helmet complete with a black facemask, one solid orange stripe down the middle, and an orange Power T decal on the sides of the helmet.
Tennessee safety Trevon Flowers was the featured athlete in the video posted on Tuesday afternoon.

The Vols originally debuted the all-black concept last season during the South Carolina game. Tennessee marched through the T and onto the field wearing crisp, sleek black jerseys and black pants. Unfortunately for the Vols, though, Tennessee was unable to complete the look with the black helmet due to supply chain issues at the time. Instead, Tennessee added in black elements and design choices to the traditional white helmet, making for a unique look.
Traditionally known for its iconic white helmet, Tennessee broke the mold in 2015 with Smokey Grey helmets, patterned with the Smoky Mountains in the background.
Now, though, the Vols will be debuting a brand new black helmet for this Saturday’s game against Kentucky in Neyland Stadium.
