San Francisco Priced as 3.5-Point Road Favorite Against Seahawks

There’s an old NFL saying that goes, “You’re only allowed to celebrate a victory before looking at the injury report.”

Well, that’s not actually an old NFL saying. I just made it up. But it’s applicable for San Francisco following its win over Tampa Bay on Sunday. The 35-7 thrashing of the Buccaneers was Super Bowl-level impressive. But, the Niners’ ninth win came at a cost. Wide receiver Deebo Samuel suffered an ankle injury, and not one, but two defensive linemen went down with what appear to be multi-game injuries.

Injuries are part of football, but these setbacks — especially the loss of Samuel, which prompted Niners Hall of Fame pass-catcher Jerry Rice to chastise his former team for misusing Deebo — could derail what should be a late-season push by San Francisco.

The over/under for the 49ers/Seahawks game on Thursday is set at 43.5 points. The Over is a strong temptation, seeing as how both of these teams rank in the top 10 in offense. Seattle, behind QB Geno Smith(!) suddenly has an elite passing attack, which is a good thing, because coach Pete Carroll’s Legion of Doom defense has morphed into the Legion of Broom, as in being swept aside by opposing offenses.

Despite the injuries to the 49ers’ interior defense and the devastating loss of quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo for the regular season, we like San Fran to force its physicality on Seattle and cover the 3.5 points. We also like peach fuzz-faced QB, Brock Purdy, to do his job by turning his back to the defense and handing the football to Christian McCaffrey or whoever is wearing a San Francisco uniform and playing the running back position. The Seahawks are one of three defenses to have surrendered as many as 2,000 yards rushing already this season. Seattle has as much success stopping the running game as a hungry man has eating soup with a fork.

When you use ROCKYBET as your bonus code during your BetMGM registration process (which takes all of 10 minutes), you’ll qualify for the $1,000 first bet bonus, which might look very good on the 49ers to cover those 3.5 points in Seattle.
