Smith and Luttrell represented the Vols on the 7A All-Georgia team while Weathersby and Telander were on the 6a All-Georgia team. The AJC named Telander the 6A Georgia Defensive Player of the Year.

All four honorees are defenders who are looking to elevate Tennessee’s defense. Smith is a four-star inside linebacker who tallied 154 tackles and 7.5 sacks during his senior season at Grayson High School. Weathersby was a fantastic evaluation by Rodney Garner and Tennessee’s staff. The New Manchester High School defensive lineman was a low three-star when he committed to Tennessee in the summer. Now he’s a four-star and the nation’s No. 311 player after a dominant senior season saw him tally 61 tackles, 16 tackles for loss and seven sacks.

Luttrell was one of the first players to commit to Tennessee in the 2023 cycle. The low three-star safety has already arrived on Tennessee’s campus for bowl practice following a strong season at Colquitt County.

Telander led Gainesville to the 6A State Championship game after recording 112 tackles and 25 tackles for loss in his senior season. The three-star recruit saved his best performance for last, tallying 13 tackles and two sacks in the state title loss.

The four defenders are part of Tennessee’s 24 player signing class that ranks No. 9 nationally according to the 247sports team rankings.
