According to a report from On3 Sports’ Matt Zenitz on Tuesday morning, Tennessee reserve offensive lineman William Parker has entered the transfer portal.

Parker, a redshirt freshman and two-year Tennessee player out of Nashville’s Pearl-Cohn High School, joined the Volunteers’ program in January 2021. Parker enrolled at Tennessee exactly seven days before the announcement that Josh Heupel would be taking over as the Vols’ next head coach and one day before the hiring of Danny White as the Vols’ new athletic director.

William Parker was originally a three-star recruit in the class of 2021 and a Top 10 player from the Volunteer State according to 247 Sports. Parker helped lead Pearl-Cohn to a Tennessee D-I 3A state championship during the 2019 season.

The 6-foot-5, 310-pounder played in two games during his first season in Knoxville – against South Alabama and Tennessee Tech. Then, during this past season, Parker found action in two more games against Ball State and UT Martin.

Tennessee did bring in a handful of offensive linemen to the program in the month of December. The Vols brought in two early enrollee prospects from the 2023 recruiting cycle, one JUCO transfer in Larry Johnson III, and one transfer from the University of Texas in Andrej Karic. Tennessee will also bring in in-state prospect Ayden Bussell into the mix sometime soon as well.

Tennessee starting right tackle, Darnell Wright, is officially off to the NFL after playing in his last game during the Orange Bowl. That leaves one definitive spot open on Tennessee’s offensive line heading into next season.
