Best Prop Bets for CFP Championship Game: Quentin Johnson, Kenny McIntosh are Strong Plays

The College Football Playoff National Championship game is here, and we are here to give you the best prop bets for TCU vs. Georgia, so you can walk away from the final game of the season with a little extra cash.

After the two semifinal games we got this season, we can only hope for one more awesome performance in the season’s final game. Georgia will look to become the first back-to-back national champion since Alabama (2012-2013), and Stetson Bennett can become the fourth quarterback to win back-to-back national titles.

On the other side, TCU has already made history as the team with the longest preseason odds (200-to-1) to make the College Football Playoff after a brilliant season from first-year head coach Sonny Dykes and Heisman Trophy finalist Max Duggan. They are also looking to become the first Big 12 team to win the National Championship in the CFP era.

There are many angles bettors can take with this game, but with Georgia favored by almost two touchdowns at most online sportsbooks and the total sitting above 60 points, it may be challenging to find a side in this game that you like. Luckily, we are here to break down the board and give you the best player props for TCU vs. Georgia.

Best Prop Bets for CFP Championship Game

Quentin Johnston Anytime TD (+100, DraftKings Sportsbook)

Expect TCU to get the passing game going with an injured running back, and if that happens, Johnston should feast yet again. In the semifinal against Michigan, Johnston hauled in six catches for 163 yards and a touchdown.

He is going to have a tough test against Kelee Ringo and this Georgia defense, but Johnston has scored six times in the last eight games. We just saw him torch an equally talented defense in Michigan, and Ohio State exposed the formula for moving the ball downfield on the Georgia defense; have a really good receiver and let him go nuts.

Now, it will not be that easy for Johnston, but with starting running back Kendre Miller banged up, look for TCU to lean on Duggan’s arm and Johnston’s athleticism. This should be a high-scoring game, so there will be plenty of opportunities for Johnston to find pay dirt. Getting this prop at plus money is well worth it.

Kenny McIntosh Over 60.5 Rushing Yards (-114, FanDuel Sportsbook)

Georgia runs a balanced offense that is predicated on the power run. The Dawgs run the ball 37 times per game, picking up 5.6 yards per rush. Part of that is because they have a loaded backfield with McIntosh, Daijun Edwards, and Kendall Milton, but it is also because of how physical they are upfront.

The Horned Frogs will have problems generating a push on this Georgia front, and they should lean heavily on the run game with McIntosh. On the season, Mcintosh has gone over this number four times, but he has also done it in three out of his last four games. In the four games that he went over the number, he is averaging 97.25 yards per game and 7.5 yards per rush.

TCU is not going to get pushed around all game, but the Horned Frogs have only seen one offensive line as good as Georgia, and that was last week against Michigan, and the Wolverines had no problems moving the ball. As the game gets late and Georgia starts to separate, that offensive line will maul the TCU front seven, and McIntosh should be able to rip off big chunks.

Taye Barber Over 36.5 Receiving Yards (-117, Caesars Sportsbook)

While Johnston will likely be the x-factor for this TCU offense, there is some significant value in Barber’s receiving yards prop.

First of all, Georgia could not afford to have all of its attention on Marvin Harrison Jr. in the Peach Bowl because Ohio State had other elite playmakers they had to worry about. No disrespect to Barber or anyone else on TCU, but Johnston is the only game-wrecker in that receiving room, and Georgia coach Kirby Smart knows that.

Secondly, Barber has exceeded this number five times this season, and in those games, he is putting up 88.4 yards per game. He also lines up primarily in the slot, so he can avoid some of Georgia’s better defensive backs and chip away at this total.

Again, TCU is going to lean on the passing game with a banged-up backfield, and if the game goes as expected, the Frogs will have to pass late in the game to stay in it, which means more opportunities for Barber.
