NFL Sunday Betting Preview

NFL Sunday is prime time this upcoming weekend. If you’re looking to wager on the games, check below for some insight.

Cincinnati Bengals at Buffalo Bills (-5) 3 p.m. ET (CBS)

Both teams faced scares from underdogs due to underwhelming opening performances in the Wild Card round of the playoffs. Who learned the most from their first outings will be big in determining who comes out on top in this matchup. Both QBs are stars, and both defenses are lights out, but there is a major difference that could haunt the Bengals.

The Bengals’ run game is nonexistent. That was the biggest cause for the scare in their matchup with the Baltimore Ravens, who were without their star QB Lamar Jackson. Defenses are focused on getting to Burrow since they can essentially rule out rushing attempts. The Bengals rushed the ball the least number of times of anyone in Wild Card weekend play.

If that continues, you have to expect the Bills’ defense to be good enough to stop Burrow and the Bengals with one hand tied behind their backs.

Dallas Cowboys at San Francisco 49ers (-3.5) — 6:30 p.m. ET (FOX)

Dak Prescott and the Dallas Cowboys had one of their best playoff performances in long while. In the victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Prescott posted the highest QB rating of the opening weekend (143.3). The Cowboys are going to need every bit of that version of Prescott to defeat the 49ers and their elite defense on the road. To do so, there is an area of concern they focus on.

The 49ers’ passing defense ranks 20th in yards allowed. That didn’t amount to a lot of touchdowns allowed, but they also didn’t face many elite QBs this year. The one they did (Patrick Mahomes) threw for 423 yards and three touchdowns. Yes, Mahomes has done that to multiple defenses, but not against other premier defenses, at least not this season.

Another potential area of strength for the Cowboys is their own pass defense. Brock Purdy made a statement in his playoff debut, but the Cowboys’ defense is far better than what he faced against the Seahawks. The question in this game is can Dak continue to protect the ball? If so, the Cowboys have a real chance at an upset.
