Just over a month after the conclusion of the 2022-23 college basketball season, Tennessee’s roster is almost set for the upcoming season.

The Vols returned All-SEC shooting guard Santiago Vescovi for his super senior season but the majority of the roster moves included Tennessee adding players from the transfer portal.

Rick Barnes and his staff added USC Upstate shooting guard Jordan Gainey, Northern Colorado small forward Dalton Knecht and Harvard power forward Chris Ledlum. The Vols three transfer class is one of the best in the country and has helped bolster Tennessee’s roster ahead of next season.

So where does it rank nationally?

Tennessee ranks 19th nationally in the 247sports transfer team rankings with only eight teams ahead of them having the same or less number of incoming transfers. The Vols currently bolster the fourth best transfer class in the SEC coming in behind No. 3 Arkansas, No. 5 Ole Miss and No. 7 LSU.

On3 is much higher on Tennessee’s transfer class in large part because it factors in outgoing transfers as well as incoming transfers. The Vols’ transfer class ranks ranks No. 6 nationally according to the On3 team transfer portal rankings.

Tennessee’s class is the third best in the SEC according to On3, coming in behind No. 2 Arkansas and No.3 Missouri.

The Vols’ strong transfer class has them moving up in way-too-early top 25 rankings, jumping into the top 10 of ESPN’s rankings.
