Betting Odds and Preview for NBA Finals Game 2

Here are the main betting markets for Game 2 of the Finals, which is set for Sunday, June 4, in Denver.

  • Point spread: Denver -8.5
  • Moneylines: Denver -400 | Miami +300
  • Total (Over/Under): 214.5 points

Denver took Game 1 without Nikola Jokic having to break much of a sweat. He finished his first Finals game with a triple-double, which is only the second time in league history a player has done so in their debut. His stat line was 27 points, 10 rebounds, and 14 assists on 12 shot attempts. The game was out of hand for the most part until a late flurry near the end from Miami to pull within single digits with a little over three minutes left.

However, their late comeback attempt fell flat thanks to Jokic putting the final touches on the game. Denver took advantage of their significant size advantage from the jump, going to Aaron Gordon on the block early vs. whoever was defending him. He scored 12 of 16 total points in the first quarter. When the Heat finally adjusted to that, Jokic took over. Miami found some defensive success with the zone late in the game that they could deploy early in Game 2 in an effort to keep Game 2 close early.

Outside of finding a way to limit the Nuggets’ front court, the players in Miami’s supporting cast need to find their sea legs quickly. Outside of Gabe Vincent, most of their heroes from the last round were a no-show in Game 1. Max Strus went 0 for 9 from three, Caleb Martin went 1 for 7 from the field, and Duncan Robinson shot 1 for 5 from three. If that continues, the Heat don’t stand much of a chance.

The Nuggets are in prime position to take a 2-0 series lead, which is critical considering Miami is expecting Tyler Herro to return in Game 3. Herro is a 20-point-per-game scorer for the Heat and will provide a much-needed offensive boost. Although Denver is in full control at the moment, the series is far from over, despite how outmatched the Heat looked in Game 1.
