Tennessee landed in the Top 5 for talented EDGE rusher Jaylen Harvey on Monday afternoon.

Harvey’s list that was posted to social media included Tennessee, Florida, Penn State, Maryland, and Southern California.

Harvey, a native of Gaithersburg, Maryland, is a 6-foot-2, 235-pounder from the class of 2024.

ESPN and Rivals’ recruiting services have Harvey listed as a four-star recruit while 247 Sports and On3 Sports have the 2024 prospect as a three-star. Overall, 247’s composite rankings list Harvey as a four-star, the No. 25 EDGE rusher in the class, and the No. 10 player from the state of Maryland.

While Tennessee does land as one of two teams from the SEC in Harvey’s Top 5, the Vols are going to have an uphill climb in the race. It looks as though the Vols, Gators, Trojans, and Terrapins are all chasing the Nittany Lions with time winding down in Harvey’s recruitment.

247Sports’ three Crystal Ball predictions all point in the direction of Penn State while the Nittany Lions also lead On3’s Recruiting Prediction Machine at an overwhelming 92.4 percent.

Tennessee defensive coordinator Tim Banks does have a good pitch, though. The Vols recently sent standout EDGE rusher Byron Young to the Los Angeles Rams via the third round of the 2023 NFL Draft this past spring. Young was continuously used as one of the most important and effective players on Tennessee’s defense during the 2022 season.

According to 247, Harvey has taken visits to Penn State, Florida, and USC in June with plans to visit Maryland in the coming days. Jaylen Harvey is also reportedly set to announce his collegiate decision on July 4.

Tennessee’s 2024 committed class is headlined by four-star quarterback Jake Merklinger, four-star athlete Jonathan Echols, four-star cornerback Kaleb Beasley, four-star running back Peyton Lewis, and four-star athlete Boo Carter.
