Tennessee shortstop Maui Ahuna has been selected in the fourth round of the 2023 MLB Draft by the San Francisco Giants at 117th overall.
Ahuna is the second Vol to come off the board.
Ahuna heads to the big leagues after three years of college ball, the final of which at Tennessee.
San Francisco’s newest shortstop was at Kansas during his freshman and sophomore season before transferring to the Vols for his junior and final year of college.
While Ahuna did not have the same success at the plate as a Vol as he did during 2022 as a Jayhawk, the Hilo, Hawaii native became one of Tennessee’s best hitters down the stretch of the season.

Ahuna finished the season with a .312 batting average, 64 hits, 42 RBI, eight home runs, a team-high 20 doubles and 37 walks drawn.
Eleven of Ahuna’s 20 doubles came in SEC play. Ahuna also recorded six hits in the College World Series, more than any other Vol.
In addition to his strong finish at the plate to end the season, Ahuna was Tennessee’s best infielder this past season.
Ahuna’s excellent defensive prowess was the biggest attractor for Tennessee, and the 21-year-old lived up to the hype this past season.
Ahuna is the second Vol to come off the board so far in the 2023 MLB Draft as Dollander went ninth overall to the Colorado Rockies. Names to watch for on day two (Monday) are pitchers Seth Halvorsen and Andrew Lindsey, outfielder Jared Dickey and Wofford transfer infielder Ryan Galanie.
