BetMGM Bonus Code ROCKYBET: Score a $1,000 Bonus for Texans vs. Patriots NFL Preseason Game

The first game of the National Football League Preseason Week 1 schedule on Thursday, Aug. 10, features a pair of AFC teams — the Houston Texans and the New England Patriots. The NFL preseason isn’t exactly the most exciting thing, but you can certainly make it more interesting by betting on it. Today’s BetMGM Bonus Code ROCKYBET allows you to do just that sweat-free by offering up to $1,000 back in bonus bets if your bet loses.

Both teams are coming off a frustrating 2022 season. The Texans were one of the worst teams in all of the NFL, with their 3-13-1 record. The Patriots finished third in the AFC East, a game behind the Miami Dolphins.

Patriots vs Texans Preview and Best Bets

The Houston Texans are on the road as they travel to face the New England Patriots Thursday night. Houston finished the 2022 season last in the AFC South and missed the postseason by a wide margin. New England was third in the AFC East in 2022 and missed the playoffs as they stumbled down the stretch with five losses in their final seven games. In regular season meetings, the Patriots own a 9-3 advantage.

Here are our two favorite bets for Thursday night’s preseason game.

Patriots ML +100

Both the Patriots and the Texans have question marks surrounding the franchises. The difference here is that the Patriots have more of a foundation. The depth chart on offense starts with Mac Jones under center but moves to Bailey Zappe, then Trace McSorley. Fourth on the roster is former Louisville star Malik Cunnigham. The Patriots added JuJu Smith-Schuster to the mix on the receiving side, but guys like Kayshon Boutte, Demariou Douglas, and Tre Nixon will likely get looks here. The Patriots used their draft to grab defensive help. Marte Mapu, Keion White, and Christian Gonzalez were taken in the first three rounds, and all will be playing on Thursday. Don’t expect those guys to go easy on Houston’s rookie QB CJ Stroud. Based on experience alone, the Patriots have the edge here.

UNDER 39 Points (-110)

The Patriots scored on 20% of their drives in the first half in the last 4 weeks of the regular season — tied for second-worst in NFL. The Texans’ defense allowed scores on 26.1% of opponent drives in the first half in the last 4 weeks of the regular season — tied for third-best in the NFL. With both teams trying to reinvent themselves offensively, I don’t expect there to be much scoring, especially with a strong Patriots defense which has only been bolstered with the signing of pass-rusher Trey Flowers.
