Cedric Tillman is making a name for himself during his first NFL preseason as a rookie with the Cleveland Browns.

While Jalin Hyatt’s speed is certainly being noted in New York, Tillman’s tenacity on the field is just as active as it was during his time at Tennessee.

During the Browns’ joint practice with the Eagles earlier in the week, Tillman made a spectacular catch in the endzone over veteran Philadelphia cornerback Avonte Maddox. The ball was thrown by starting Cleveland quarterback Deshaun Watson as the two develop a connection ahead of the 2023 season.

Fast forward to Thursday night and Tillman was once again on the field making plays. This time, though, Tillman’s big catch came in the Browns’ preseason game against the Eagles.

Early into the first quarter of the game, Browns quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson threw up a deep throw for Tillman on the left sideline. Tillman went over the top of two Philadelphia defenders to make the catch and put the Browns in the red zone. The Tennessee product ended the game catching two of his three targets for 50 yards.

The Browns defeated the Jets in the opening preseason game with Tillman catching two of his three targets for 35 yards. In the Browns game two loss to Washington, Tillman hauled in two of his four receptions for seven yards.

All in all, Tillman has caught six of his 10 total targets for 92 yards through three preseason games despite backup quarterback struggles being a storyline for the Browns’ preseason camp.

Cedric Tillman was selected by the Browns with the 74th overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft this past spring. The former Volunteer racked up a total of 1,622 yards and 17 touchdowns during his five-year career on Rocky Top.
