Tennessee football’s season opener against Virginia at Nissan Stadium in Nashville is a sell out, the Nashville Sports Council announced Tuesday.

“We are thrilled to announce this Saturday’s game is officially sold out,” Nashville Sports Council President Scott Ramsey said in a statement. “We are excited to welcome the tens of thousands of fans to Nissan Stadium for what promises to be an exciting and memorable matchup between these two outstanding programs.”

The Tennessee Titans home stadium holds 69,143 seats with an ability to slightly expand its capacity.

The matchup at Nissan Stadium is Tennessee’s third regular season game in the history of the venue. Tennessee defeated Wyoming in Nashville in 2002 and opened up the 2015 season with a win over Bowling Green.

Tennessee’s two previous regular season games at Nissan Stadium are in addition to its three Music City Bowl appearances (2011, 16 and 21).

Virginia is playing its second ever game in Nissan Stadium. The Cavaliers previously defeated Minnesota in the 2005 Music City Bowl.

Tennessee is four touchdown favorites over Virginia in the season opener after posting an 11-2 record in a resurgent 2022 season under Josh Heupel. Virginia is looking for a bounce back season in Tony Elliott’s second year as head coach. The Cavs went 3-7 last season before cancelling their final two regular season games.

Kickoff from Nissan Stadium is noon ET Saturday. Joe Tessitore, Jesse Palmer and Katie George are on the call for ABC
