Previous Matchups
Saturday’s contest between Tennessee and Florida will be the 53rd meeting between the two programs. Due to SEC scheduling long ago, the consistent Tennessee-Florida game didn’t begin until the early 90s. While the Vols have more than 100 games against Vanderbilt, Kentucky, and Alabama, the Gators’ series is just over 50.
Florida won 11 games in a row over Tennessee from 2005-2015 until the Vols snapped the streak at home in Knoxville in 2016. The Gators then went on another five-game winning streak until Hendon Hookers’ Volunteers defeated Anthony Richardson’s Gators last season in Knoxville. Still, though, a streak remained. Tennessee has lost nine straight games in Gainesville and hasn’t won in The Swamp since 2003.
