Tennessee Bumps Up in Latest College Football Playoff Rankings

Josh Heupel’s Tennessee Volunteers come in at No. 13 in the latest College Football Playoff rankings from Tuesday night, as revealed by ESPN during their CFB Playoff rankings show.

Tennessee moved up four spots in the rankings after a 56-point victory over UConn on Saturday afternoon in Knoxville.

Tennessee’s College Football Playoff ranking is the second-highest among their Week 11 rankings as the Vols landed at No. 12 in the Coaches Poll and No. 14 in the Week 11 AP Top 25 poll.

The Vols are the fourth highest-ranked team from the SEC in this weeks rankings after leaping over Missouri and LSU, both of whom lost to the SEC’s top two teams on Saturday evening.

Georgia is unchanged in the rankings and still comes in at No. 2 after the victory over Missouri while Alabama stays at No. 8 in the rankings after defeating LSU by 14 points in Tuscaloosa. Ole Miss continues to stay in the Top 10 rising one spot to No. 9 after a narrow victory over Texas A&M in Oxford on Saturday.

Then comes Tennessee who rose up four spots after their win over UConn.

Missouri, Tennessee’s opponent this week in Columbia, fell back two spots to No. 14 after their nine-point loss to Georgia in Athens. And, lastly, LSU rounds out the SEC’s selections at No. 19, five spots behind where they were ranked last Tuesday night in the first rankings of the season.

Tennessee now faces a crucial two-game stretch in SEC play. The Vols will head to Columbia this weekend for a Top 15 clash against No. 14 Missouri while No. 2 Georgia will host No. 19 Ole Miss in a Top 10 meeting from Athens. The Vols and Bulldogs will then meet up in Knoxville for the penultimate game of the regular season the following Saturday. Tennessee will close their season at home against Vanderbilt after the Georgia game.

No. 14 Missouri will host No. 13 Tennessee this Saturday at 3:30 p.m. on CBS.
