Tennessee vs. Missouri Preview

Tennessee is looking to climb further up the national rankings, as is Missouri. Tennessee, having just played Connecticut, put up some impressive numbers with 650 total yards of offense in a 59-3 victory. The most impressive part of this feat was Volunteers had the ball for only 21 minutes.

The Volunteers have 25 penalties in the last three games. Something you hear top five teams repeat a lot is refusing to make mistakes and limiting how many penalties they get. Penalties are yards off the drive and points off the board, and if Tennessee does not fix this soon, the Volunteers won’t crack the top 10 in the rankings. QB Joe Milton has to be efficient in this game, right around 65% in terms of completion percentage. If Milton can make the passes count, and the Tennessee defense steps up, the Volunteers will be able to win on the road.

Missouri is 4-1 at home this season, while the Tennessee Volunteers are at 1-2 on the road. Brady Cook from Missouri has had a surprisingly good season. Cook has thrown for over 200 yards in every game this season except for one and has 16 total touchdowns this year. Running back Cody Schrader has 919 rushing yards on 162 carries. Rounding out this talented core is wideout Luther Burden III, who has 958 passing yards on 64 receptions. Missouri likes to go pace for pace on the scoreboard, and rightfully so with such a good team. If the Tigers can get a couple of explosive plays to get this crowd involved early as well as Cody Schrader finding success on the ground, Missouri could steal this game.

This team is rock solid and battle tested to the fullest extent. Missouri being at home is a massive advantage, and the Tigers will need every edge they can get. With the point spread being so minimal, we’re siding with Tennessee to cover and come out on top in this SEC battle but getting Over the 58.5 point total looks a bit dicey.
