Tennessee vs. Missouri Preview

Expect Tennessee to look to star running back Jaylen Wright a lot this game – just as they have throughout the season. On Saturday, he’ll enter the matchup having two straight 100+ yard games behind him. He’s scored a touchdown in three of his last five games.
Of course, the Vols will be up against a great run defense in Missouri. The Tigers are holding opponents’s run game to 114.1 yards per game and 3.6 yards per carry. Will the Vols need to rely more on their passing? Keep an eye out for that.
…But Missouri gives Tennessee an even match
Missouri’s offense has a strong run game, too, with RB Cody Schrader showing up in nearly every game. He has a total of 919 rushing yards and 10 touchdowns.
But the Tigers can also turn to their passing game with a primary target in WR Luther Burden III, one of the best receivers in college football this year. He even scored his seventh receiving touchdown against Georgia, though he was largely kept quiet by the Bulldogs’ defense.
The Tigers will need Burden to show up on Saturday, as the Vols have one of the best run defense in the SEC, holding their opponents to 97.3 yards per game.
Tennessee vs. Missouri Prediction: Tigers against the spread
Missouri got pretty well carved up by Georgia last week, but we expect them to be hungry for a conference win. Plus, with such a close matchup, we’re likely looking at a battle of the quarterbacks. While Joe Milton III has been good, the Tigers’ Brady Cook has been outstanding. We’re betting they put up a big game at home on Saturday.
