Six quarterbacks from the SEC are now in the transfer portal.

Mississippi State quarterback Will Rogers, Texas A&M quarterback Max Johnson, and Vanderbilt quarterback Ken Seals all announced their intention to enter the transfer portal over the weekend following their regular-season finale games.

Since then, though, three more conference quarterbacks have revealed their intention to enter the portal.

Vanderbilt lost their second starting quarterback to the transfer portal as quarterback AJ Swann made his announcement on Tuesday. Swann and Seals split time at the quarterback position through the season for the Commodores and both played against Tennessee this past Saturday in Knoxville.

Swann, the starter against Tennessee, went 14-of-23 for 167 yards and one touchdown pass.

“I want to start off by thanking God for guiding me and for blessing me with the opportunities that I have had,” Swann wrote in a social media post. “I also would like to thank my teammates for sticking with me and being by my side and to all y’all boys, love y’all and I know y’all are gonna be great and can’t wait to see y’all succeed. With that being said I will be entering my name into the transfer portal and am excited for what the future holds.”

On3 Sports’ Hayes Fawcett reported Florida backup quarterback Max Brown’s transfer portal intentions on Wednesday.

The redshirt freshman quarterback spent the last two seasons in Gainesville and found playing time this season when starting quarterback Graham Mertz went down with a broken collarbone injury in the second-to-last game of the season against Missouri in Columbia. Brown took over as the Gators’ starting quarterback for the final game of the season against Florida State.

Brown will have three years of eligibility at his next destination.

And, lastly, a report from Chris Hummer and Matt Zenitz of 247 Sports on Wednesday state that Arkansas quarterback KJ Jefferson will also be entering the transfer portal. Jefferson had previously been the Razorbacks’ starter for the past three seasons.

Jefferson and the Razorbacks’ offense struggled this season as the offensive passing numbers took a hit. Jefferson finished the season with 2,107 passing yards, 19 touchdowns, and eight interceptions. In comparison, Tennessee quarterback Joe Milton finished the season with 2,813 passing yards, 20 touchdowns, and just five interceptions.

There should be a sizeable market for a quarterback with the SEC experience that he brings to the table.

One interesting note, though, Jefferson did post a message to Instagram on Wednesday morning that said, “I haven’t made my decision yet!”

The transfer portal has become one of the most robust and talked-about aspects of the college football world. The activity here in the few days following the regular season has been evidence of a big portal season coming up in the month of December.

The transfer portal will officially open up on December 4.

Stay tuned to Rocky Top Insider throughout the month for more on the biggest names from the SEC entering and exiting the transfer portal.
