Former NFL quarterback Tim Hasselbeck is entering the Tennessee high school football coaching scene.

The former NFL journeyman is the newest head coach at the Ensworth School, a Nashville private school that competes in TSSAA Division II-AAA.

“I am deeply thankful and honored for this opportunity to lead the Ensworth football program,” Hasselbeck said in a statement. “Our family has been part of the Ensworth community for nearly a decade, and this Ensworth community has been like family to us. Our football team, as students of Ensworth, will carry the mission to pursue integrity and excellence on the field, in the classroom, and as contributors to the city of Nashville.”

Hasselbeck already had ties to the school, coaching the middle school football team the last four years and with his daughter starring on the lacrosse team.

Ensworth was the best private school program in the state of Tennessee in the early 2010s, winning four straight state titles from 2010-2013. However, the Tigers have fallen behind since, and haven’t made it to the state championship game since 2014.

The Tigers are coming off an 8-3 season that saw Montgomery Bell Academy upset the Tigers in the first round of the playoffs. Ensworth currently boasts four-star defensive lineman Ethan Utley who ranks as the fourth best player in the state of Tennessee in the 2025 recruiting class.

Hasselbeck is a Norfolk, Massachusetts native who played his college football at Boston College. He went undrafted in the 2001 NFL Draft before playing for the Eagles, Redskins, Giants and Cardinals in his seven-year NFL career.

The former ESPN personality played in 12 games in his NFL career, seven with the Redskins, and completed 54% of his passes for 1,012 yards, five touchdowns and seven interceptions. Tim is the younger brother of 17-year NFL quarterback Matt Hasselbeck who played the majority of his career for the Seattle Seahawks but also started for the Tennessee Titans during the 2011 season and part of the 2012 season.
