Knoxville Native Commits To Tennessee Football As Preferred Walk-On

Knoxville Catholic receiver and return specialist Braylon Harmon committed to Tennessee football on Monday morning as a preferred walk-on.

“I am blessed to say I’m committing to the University of Tennessee,” Harmon said in his commitment post.

Harmon was committed to Wofford College for five months. But after Tennessee extended a preferred walk-on spot, the 5-foot-9 receiver backed off his pledge to the Terriers in early December. Harmon officially committed to Tennessee football on Monday morning.

The Knoxville native boasted offers from Air Force, Army, East Carolina, Memphis, Navy and Troy amongst others.

As a senior, Harmon helped lead Knoxville Catholic to a 7-6 record and a berth in the TSSAA Division II-AAA semifinals before the Fighting Irish fell to Baylor. Knoxville Catholic went just 5-5 in the regular season before making an impressive run to the semifinals which included wins over Father Ryan and University School of Memphis.

A standout receiver for the Fighting Irish, Harmon totaled 1,071 receiving yards and nine receiving touchdowns while adding 259 rushing yards and four rushing touchdowns. Harmon totaled 19 total touchdowns in his final high school season.

Harmon committed to Tennessee just days before the start of the early signing period. The Vols’ 2024 recruiting class currently contains 20 scholarship commits and ranks No. 12 nationally according to the 247sports team rankings.
