Two more kick off times for Tennessee football early season matchups are set, the SEC announced on Thursday afternoon.

The Vols’ season-opening matchup against UTC kicks off from Neyland Stadium at 12:45 p.m. ET on Saturday, Aug. 31, and their week three matchup against Kent State on Saturday, Sept. 14 kicks off at 7:45 p.m. ET. The SEC Network will broadcast both games.

With the conference’s new TV contract with ESPN, the game times will be announced for more games this summer instead of just 12 days before kick off as it has been in recent years. In fact, SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey stated earlier this week that every noon ET kick off will be announced at some point this summer ahead of the start of the season.

The non conference matchups against UTC and Kent State are two of three kick off times that have been announced for Tennessee football so far this offseason. Tennessee’s week two matchup against North Carolina State kicks off at 7:30 p.m. ET on Sept. 7 at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte. ABC is broadcasting the matchup.

The Vols matchup against the Wolfpack is their premier non conference matchup of the season to go along with the games against UTC, Kent State and UTEP.

There’s an abundance of excitement around Tennessee football entering the 2024 season. After taking a step back to 9-4 (4-4 SEC) last season, there’s reason to believe that the Vols will be back in the College Football Playoff hunt in the first year of the extended 12-team playoff.

Much of that optimism surrounds redshirt freshman quarterback Nico Iamaleava who is stepping into the starting quarterback role two short years after he was the nation’s No. 1 recruit.

Iamaleava and the Vols open up their highly anticipated season on Saturday, Aug. 31 when they face UTC at 12:24 ET at Neyland Stadium in Knoxville.
