The Celtics, who posted the league’s best regular-season record at 64-18 and have since gone 12-2 in the Eastern Conference playoffs, are decided favorites in Game 1 (6.5 points) and the series (-240).

Boston is back in the NBA Finals for the second time in the last three seasons and is seeking a league-best 18th championship overall and its first since 2008.

Dallas, meanwhile, is a surprise Finals qualifier after upending three higher-seeded opponents as the West’s fifth seed. Overall, it’s the third NBA Finals appearance for the Mavericks, whose only title came in 2011.

Doncic and Irving are averaging a combined 51.6 points, 14 assists and 13.5 rebounds per game this postseason.

But Boston counters with its own prolific duo in Tatum and Brown, who are averaging a combined 51 points, 16.5 rebounds and 8.5 assists per playoff outing.

The Celtics have the depth advantage, especially with center Kristaps Porzingis expected back after missing the last 10 games with a calf injury suffered in the first round.

Boston also has a defensive advantage, ranking third in the league in postseason defensive rating and second in that same metric during the regular season.
